Today marked the opening of a roundtable consultation with Philippine partners at United Methodist headquarters in Manila. General Secretary Roland Fernandes and Area Liaison Darlene Marquez-Caramanzana offered welcoming remarks to kick off the gathering. Dr. Lizette Tapia-Raquel, Professor and Academic Dean at Union Theological Seminary, led a discussion on decolonizing mission. The day concluded with updates from the Philippines Central Conference, which includes three episcopal areas: Baguio, Davao, and Manila. The consultation runs from August 5–7 and brings together a diverse group of participants, including Bishops Rodel M. Acdal, Israel M. Painit, and Ciriaco Q. Francisco, along with ecumenical partners, university representatives, leaders from the three episcopal areas and agency staff. #BeUMC
